Financed vehicles are legally owned by the finance house (lender). The lender remains the legal owner or title holder until the car is paid off.

Your temporary paper number plate is only valid for 72 hours and must be replaced with a permanent one before this period is over. Speak to your dealership about obtaining your permanent number plate as soon as possible.

A personalised number plate is usually linked to a specific person and not a vehicle on the eNaTiS system. This is the only instance in which you can keep or re-use your number plate. Please confirm the process of linking the personalised number plate with your new vehicle with your local traffic and licensing department, or inform your Renault sales consultant that you wish to keep your number plate. They may be able to include this service as part of your on-the-road package.

To register your pre-owned Renault, you need:

- Your identity document (ID)

- Proof of residential address

- A certificate of roadworthiness if the current certificate is older than 60 days

- Proof of purchase of the vehicle

- A valid motor vehicle licence (ensure that the licence fees for the vehicle are up to date)

You need:

- Identity document (ID)

- Proof of residential address

- The manufacturer's certificate containing all the relevant details of the vehicle

- A completed Application for Registration and Licensing of Motor Vehicle (RLV) form that you can get from your local traffic and licensing department, or from the eNaTIS website.

According to law, all vehicles in South Africa must be registered within 21 days after a change of ownership. This includes change of ownership between a dealership and an owner (new vehicles). You can register your car through the local registering authority, and the vehicle registration is then recorded on the national traffic information system (eNaTIS).
